Abstract

This is a translated poem penned by late Shaheed Quaderi, one of the pioneering poets of Bangladesh who appeared like a meteor in our literary landscape in the sixties. The original title of the current piece is 'Ekti Bibroto Songlap'. In its translated version, it bears the title, 'An Embarrassing Conversation'.

The poem though begins in a lighter tone, through the course of the cooing of a couple, anchors at a heavyweight issue. Albeit cliched, it focuses on the heavy male-inclined, gendered pattern of the human society.
