Be a Candle in Someone's Life
Don't be afraid to be a candle,
In the time of this great pandemic,
When the world is at a stake,
The economy has turned topsy-turvy
Hospitals are full of people,
And oxygen ran out,
Be a candle in someone's life.
Oh, the sad demises of the beloved ones,
Loss of jobs and shut behind the doors,
Anxious about paying the bills,
Uncertain of the future of children,
Spiritual places are closed,
And public worships prohibited,
Be a candle in someone's life.
Emotions are pent-up and find no way out,
When darkness gropes around,
No taste, no smell, and feel all meaningless,
You long for a touch, and want to be connected;
Fear mounds, heavy the heart is,
Wish someone to console, to be at the side,
Be a candle in someone's life.
We can be a candle through our words,
We can be a candle through our smiles,
We can be a candle through our resources,
With our arms stretched out in prayers,
Looking up the sky for God's mercy,
We can, we can, and only we can,
Be a candle in someone's life.
